Farm and Forest Skills Program
The Pleasant Valley Porter Farm - Farm and Forest Skills Program, aka The Cardinals, is for Elementary children ages 6-12. This is a program that is offered every day from 3:00-4:30pm. Tuition is a flat rate of $20 per day. Students can sign up for the Fall session (Sept, Oct, Nov), the Winter session (Dec, Jan, Feb), or the Spring session (Mar, Apr, May, June).
The Farm and Forest Skills Program is open to children K-6th grade. Our calendar follows the Lamoille North Supervisory Union academic calendar. Children who attend Cambridge Elementary School have the convenience of riding the bus to the farm after school, while others may be dropped off.
Each afternoon begins with a snack and a group meeting. Families are responsible for their child’s healthy snack each day. From then on, days unfold according to whims and weather. The Farm is a place where everything from rainy day art to snowy day sledding and of course (it’s Vt), mucky days mucking happens. We do chores with the animals, make fires, pick apples, boil sap, dig clay from the river, and work in the land and gardens - things that balance out a day in the classroom.
